My husband, our dogs, and I spend much of our free time exploring the trails, beaches, rivers, and forests that surround Brookings. From sunset hikes along rugged coastal headlands to wandering beneath towering redwoods just minutes from the ocean, we’re constantly reminded how lucky we are to call this place home. Brookings isn’t just another coastal town.

Thanks to its unique climate — often called the “Banana Belt” of Oregon — it enjoys more sunshine and milder weather than most of the coast. That means more opportunities to hike, explore, photograph wildlife, and enjoy the outdoors year-round. Through Brookings by the Sea, we want to share the places that inspire us:
